Waterpark – Nordlandsbadet
It will be possible to go swimming in Nordlandsbadet, a waterpark with fun options for everyone, located only a short walk from the camp. Admission costs 100 NOK for Scouts with a Nord wristband. The opening times for Nordlandsbadet are:

Leader and Rover offer: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night the waterpark will be open exclusively for leaders and Rovers. You can get tickets at the Camp Office or directly from Nordlandsbadet.

The Norwegian Aviation Museum
Norway’s national museum for aviation, showing both military and civilian aviation history.

Newton Flight Academy
You can try one of 3 «full motion» flight simulators, the first of their kind in the Nordic countries. You get a quick tutorial from an instructor, and can then test what it is like to fly over Bodø.

Flight simulator prices:
Simulator tutorial and a short (c. 15 minute) flight: 250 NOK
Simulator for beginners (c. 30 minutes): 390 NOK
Advanced simulator (c. 30 minutes): 390 NOK

Saltstraumen (see 177nordland.no for bus routes)
Saltstraumen is considered the strongest tidal current in the world, and has shifting and unpredictable current movements. Saltstraumen is located 11 km outside of the town of Bodø.

Bodø town centre
In Bodø town centre, you can go for a nice walk along the docks or Rundholmen. There are also shopping and food options there.

RIB (boat) trips
Several different companies offer RIB trips in Bodø.

Nordlandsmuseet (the Nordland Museum)
The museum has exhibitions showing Bodø’s history, including fishery, the Sami people and Vikings in the Bodø area. The museum is particularly known for housing ‘Sølvskatten fra Bratten (the Silver Treasuer from Bratten), the biggest Viking treasure in Northern Norway, containing coins, jewellery and an oversized brooch.

Nyholmen skanse
Nyholmen skanse is a military stronghold in the approach to Bodø, and was built in 1810 to protect the granaries at Hundholmen against British war ships during the Napoleonic Wars. Nyholmen is an area on the Burøya peninsula known for Nyholmen skanse and Nyholmen Lighthouse, a beacon that was in use from 1875 to 1907.

The tourist information centre in central Bodø, address Tollbugata 13 (Hundholmen plass), is easily accessible. You can also see visitbodo.no for ideas and inspiration for things to do.

Local buses in Bodø
Everyone under 16 years can use local buses for free during the camp. This applies to zone 1, stretching from Tverlandet to Festvåg.
